Brand new 4G phone announced

Well, apparently Sprint has decided to release the first 4G phone, to go on sale later this year. I personally don't really see the point. 3G, 4g, what's the difference. How long is this going to go? Ten years from now, are we going to have the brand new 14G phone, with so many applications and little extras that it looks like a swiss army knife? Are you planning on getting one of these brand new phones? Going to get the brand new 5 or 6G phone next year?
